- **Quake III Paintball Map Compiler**
- ************************************
-
- Version: 1.0
-
- Date Released: 11-20-00
-
- File Size: Approx. 90k
-
- Includes: q3pbc.exe, readme.txt
-
- Description: The Q3Pball Map Compiler (q3pbc) was created for those of you who wish to see
- the status or your mapping compile. This program eliminates the task of manual compiling.
-
- Installation/setup:
- Warning! You must have the Quake III Paintball Mapping Essentials pak to use the Q3Pball
- map compiler.
- To install the Q3Pball Map Compiler, extract the files contained
- in the q3pbc.zip file to your Quake III arena directory (example: c:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\).
- After the files are extracted, a q3pbc directory will be created within you paintball
- directory (example: c:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\paintball\q3pbc).
- Now your installation is complete. To run the Q3pball Map Compiler, simply double-click on
- q3pbc.exe.
-
- How to use: The Q3Pball Map Compiler was created to eliminate manual compiling. When you
- first run the Q3Pball, you will be asked to enter your Quake III Arena directory.
-
- Example:
- **********************************************************
- This is your first time running the Q3Pball Map Compiler.
- Please enter your Quake III Arena directory.
- Directory: c:\program files\quake iii arena
- **********************************************************
-
- Make sure when you enter your Quake III arena directory, that you do not put a backslash
- at the end. This will create problem through your first run.
- If all goes well, you will be prompted to enter the name of the map you wish to compile.
-
- Example:
- **********************************************************
- Enter the map you wish to compile: samplemap
- **********************************************************
-
- Next, you will be asked which type of compile you wish to perform on the map that you have
- entered.
-
- Example:
- **********************************************************
- Select the number for the compile you wish to perform or press "0" to quit.
- 0 - Quit
- 1 - BSP
- 2 - BSP-Fastvis
- 3 - BSP-Vis
- 4 - BSP-Vis-Light (Final compile)
- 5 - BSP-Vis-Light -extra
- Which num?: 1 (as an example)
- **********************************************************
-
- Now, as long as your Quake III Arena directory was entered correctly, the map will compile
- to samplemap.bsp. Next, you will be asked whether you would like to run the map. Type "y"
- for yes and "n" for no. If you choose "y", then you will be taken into Quake and you will be
- able to view your map. When you stop viewing your map, you will be asked if you wish to quit the
- Q3Pball Map compiler. If you chose "n" when asked to run your map, then you will be asked
- if you would like to quit. Yes quits the program and no takes you back the to the beginning.
-
- There is only one more thing you need to know. If you accidentally entered the wrong Quake
- III Arena directory when you first ran the program, then next time your run the program,
- simply choose to "Change Q3A dir" when the program first loads.
